• The Queen visits St.Ives, Friday 16th May

What an odd sight, the Queen actually in St.Ives- very smiley, very youthful for her years, a vision of lavender, a reminder of time gone by. She travelled by Royal train to little old St.Erth then hopped onto our humble little branch line and was met by hundreds of eager flag fluttering school children. It was when I saw her beaming, iconic face that I suddenly realised how long the Queen seems to have been in my life, like a familiar nan that goes on forever! Still so much energy and as I get older her presence seems more reassuring than antagonistic as it might have been when I were younger and more rebellious. Everybody seemed genuinely excited and happy to see her. St.Ives was alive for her brief appearance and that can only be a good thing.
